Introduced in 2012, the Ford B-MAX is a quirky and practical MPV that’s based on the incredibly popular and successful Ford Fiesta.
Production ended in 2017, but make no mistake, the B-MAX is a great value used MPV and benefits from a number of factors, of which are explained below.
The B-MAX is easily recognisable as a Ford model. The Ford DNA means the B-MAX looks like a number of Fords, such as the Fiesta, Focus and even a dash of the Kuga to ensure the B-MAX is certainly not a bad looking car, despite the boxy MPV body style which can sometimes be difficult to style.
Its clever rear sliding doors are a great benefit to the B-MAX’s enhanced practicality, but without actually opening them, it may come as a surprise to many. If you opt for a plusher trim level, the B-MAX becomes even more sophisticated and is certainly up there with the most attractive MPV offerings out there.
Again, the B-MAX takes after its siblings, and offers a familiar Ford interior, with the dashboard incredibly similar to that of the Fiesta and Focus. Therefore, dials and switchgear are laid out in an easy to operate layout with an ergonomic feel.
It’s also a pretty spacious affair with seating for five and an impressive boot size.
Comfort levels in the B-MAX are good, and the MPV copes well with bumps and the UK’s penchant for pot holes! As for the overall driving experience, the B-MAX is not exactly an exciting car to drive, but then an MPV isn’t about driving dynamics. Supportive seats and a good array of driving features ensure it is a perfectly capable car to drive without any real upset, but don’t expect it to rival its Fiesta and Focus siblings.
As mentioned, the clever sliding rear doors mean parents will find it much easier to effortlessly load kids and items into the rear of the B-MAX. The higher roofline also means headroom is good, and the overall entry of the car is very easy for those looking for a vehicle with is easy to get in and out of.
The B-MAX is perfect for families who don’t need a seven-seater, or those looking for ease of access for themselves and family members or friends. An array of efficient engines mean the B-MAX isn’t going to damage your wallet or purse either.
Familiar Ford trim levels appear in the B-MAX range. Therefore, Studio is the entry-level trim, with Zetec, Titanium and Titanium X being available further up the range, offering more kit and specification.
The award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine features in the B-MAX range, which can deliver over 50mpg. The 1.5-litre TDCi can achieve over 70mpg – ensuring the B-MAX continues Ford’s reputation of economical engine options.Search Ford B-Max
